Sow the Real Seed

If you sow vows, resolutions, aspirations, emotions, you will reap nothing but exhaustion: ‘And you shall sow your seed in vain, for your enemies shall eat it’ (Lev. 26:16); but sow the Word of God, and as sure as God is God, it will bring forth fruit…

The Rights of the Land

When God ordained ‘a sabbath of solemn rest for the land’, it was a reiteration of the instructions given to Adam in the Garden of Eden – ‘Be fruitful and multiply; fill the earth and subdue it’ (Genesis 1:28). Man was intended to replenish the earth by looking after it, being its lord not its tyrant; sin has made man its tyrant (Romans 8:19). …

Pray About Everything

Psalm 28:1,2

Panic is bad for the natural heart, and it is destructive to the spiritual life. ‘Let not your heart be troubled’ – it is a command. Are we in the habit of constantly requesting, of continually talking to Jesus about everything? Where we go in the time of trial proves what the great underlying power in our lives is.

Know What You Should Do – Mark 5:28

Today’s reading (57) is Leviticus 21:1-22:33, Psalm 27:11-14, Proverbs 10:13-16, Mark 5:21-43.

The focus of the devotional is Mark 5:28 and here is an excerpt from the devotional from Oswald Chambers’ book, “Our Brilliant Heritage”:

It is a dangerous thing to refuse to go on knowing. When the Spirit of God has opened your mind by His incoming and you are determining to know more, you will find that external circumstances and internal knowledge go together, and by obedience you begin to fulfill your spiritual destiny. It is a great deal better to fulfill the purpose of God in your life by discerning His will than it is to perform great acts of self-sacrifice.

Today’s Devotional – What We Should Hate

Leviticus 19:1-20:27, Psalm 27:4-10, Proverbs 10:10-12, Mark 5:1-20.  The devotion is focused on Leviticus 19:17 and an excerpt from Oswald Chambers’ quote from “Biblical Psychology” is this,

“The carnal mind is enmity against God”; what we should hate is this principle that lusts against the Spirit of God and is determined to have our bodies and minds and rule them away from God.

Authority in Prayer

I have been part of the intercessory group at my church for a little over 10 years now.  We have gone through changes as the Lord changes us and I’ve seen changes in leadership as well, as those in the leadership positions move on or step down for whatever reason.

Well, recently, the woman who was leading the group decided it was her time to step down.  My pastor, his wife and the elders approached me and asked if I would be willing to lead the group.  Only because I knew that they would not have asked had they not heard from the Lord, I accepted, telling the Lord that whatever He would use me for, I was a willing vessel.

My pastor’s wife and I got together to find out what direction I should take this group.  She gave me a bunch of intercessory books, some of which I already had.  I asked the Lord which book I should start with and I felt impressed to Dutch Sheet’s book, “Authority in Prayer – Praying with Power and Purpose“.

We also wanted to make sure my current group and those interested in joining were on the same page, so we decided to look into a DVD teaching on intercessory prayer.  We decided on Dutch Sheets’ “Lightning of God” DVD teaching series. This was done over the phone so I did not look at the item online and didn’t make a connection between the book I had chosen to read and the DVD series.  Come to find out, they are linked, he goes into greater details in the book, but it’s from the teaching or the other way around.

Anyway, it’s great to see God confirming what I believed to be His direction in this path.

The book is very good, as is the DVD teaching.  It has taken me a while to go from someone who knew God wanted her to pray, but didn’t expect to see answers to prayer to someone who has seen God answer prayers in her life for personal things as well as seeing God move in answer to prayer in regards to the weather and other things.  I believe this book is allowing what I know in my head to drop down into my heart and my spirit and walk in the confidence knowing what my Lord has commissioned me (and the rest of His kids) to do – bring God’s will to earth.

It’s an incredible book with incredible stories.  It’s a book explaining what “normal” Christianity is all about.
